About Allegro Moderato

Carol Philips Cumming set up Allegro Moderato to provide a hub for her Washington Conservatory Orchestra and chamber music colleagues to find information about music-making opportunities in the Washington DC area.

Join us for singing madrigals and more with the Amadeus Singers. Carol's wind and chamber ensemble Camerata Musica recently performed Mozart's Gran Partita at Hughes United Methodist Church in  Wheaton, MD and will perform Schubert's Octet and woodwind quintet music on October 24, 2010.

Carol studied music at Pomona College in Claremont, CA and at Oxford University in England where she specialized in 20th C. music and wrote her thesis on composer Edgar Varèse. She and her husband Bruce met many years ago in Oxford, England thanks to Stravinsky's Octet, and they both remain great Stravinsky fans.

Carol plays the horn and piano and studies conducting with Scott Wood. Carol serves on the boards of the Children's Chorus of Washington and Amadeus Concerts. Carol works with CCW's treble chorus, co-conducts the Amadeus Singers and conducts the Camerata Musica.

Carol worked in music and software publishing for 25 years, first at Oxford University Press in Oxford, England and later at Cherwell Scientific Publishing. Currently Carol is a partner with the popular Amion hospital-wide scheduling software.

If you'd like to be on our email list for opportunities, please email Carol with your name, instrument (or voice part) and any suggestions of pieces you'd like to read through and perform.
